Age is just a number for the legendary Ni Xialian! Born in 1963, Ni started her career with the Chinese national team where she was crowned champion in the team and mixed doubles events at the 1983 World Championships in Japan. After settling down in Luxembourg in 1991, Ni has played a pivotal role in putting the country on the global map of table tennis and helping local talents grow by sharing her experience with the younger generation. 36 years on from her maiden world title in Tokyo, she secured her qualification spot at the Tokyo Olympic Games and is set to make history as the oldest table tennis Olympian. Outside of the arena, Ni also manages a hotel in Luxembourg together with her husband, who is also her coach and training partner. As pendholder Xialian plays LP OX (red) and SP (black) and twiddles.
